What is synthetic data?
Synthetic data is generated to stand in for production rows during development and testing. Loop Life Data Generator builds those rows from the schema, including foreign keys.
A stand-in for production rows
Synthetic data is data a program creates so developers, testers, and trainers do not have to copy a production database. The useful kind still looks like the real tables: names, orders, and keys that fit the schema you already have.
Loop Life Data Generator is the suite application that does this work on the computer where it is installed. It is not an ETL tool and it is not a SQL IDE.
Schema and foreign keys
Auto Insert reads the live catalog and inserts in an order the foreign keys allow. You can preview the rows before anything is written. A generated child row that points at a missing parent is not useful test data.
Display language and generation language are separate. Menus can be in one of the 20 supported languages while names and addresses in the rows use another.
Where it runs
The program runs on Windows, Ubuntu, Debian, and Arch Linux. It connects to the database from that machine. It does not upload the database to Loop Life.
